Hey there, I'm Michael Tiedtke, a Director of Photography, VFX-Artist, 3D-Generalist, and Lighting TD (Lighting Technical Director). Currently pursuing my studies at Visual Magic in Skellefteå, Sweden, where I've honed my craft across a variety of disciplines. Throughout my career, I've developed an incredible passion for lighting, camera sensor technology, and lenses. As I delved deeper into the world of digital imagery, I discovered a new passion for digital compositing, VFX-artistry, and 3D environment art. This newfound passion has enabled me to push my boundaries and create remarkable images for various projects, regardless of whether they are shot on a cinema camera or captured on a digital cine camera in Unreal Engine 5.

My latest demoreel showcases my skills in a range of areas, from layout and compositing to blueprint scripting and real-time performance capture. The reel features examples of my work in RBD simulations, texturing, and VFX, which demonstrate my keen eye for detail and strong technical abilities. I'm particularly proud of my proficiency in using software such as Unreal Engine, Blender 3D, Blackmagic Fusion, Nuke, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and various renderers such as Cycles, Eevee, and Lumen.

Throughout my studies, I've gained extensive knowledge about material shaders and troubleshooting in Unreal Engine 5. I've also developed a deep understanding of the proper way of color management using ACES (Academy Color Encoding System), a system that ensures consistent color reproduction across different platforms and devices. The performance capture featured in my demoreel was done using the Live Link app for iOS, which allowed me to seamlessly integrate live performances into my work.
